You’re seven years old. Mom’s in the hospital. Dad says she’s “done something stupid.” She finds it hard to be happy. So you start to make a list of everything brilliant about the world, everything worth living for.

1. Ice cream.

2. Water fights.

The
Story

The EBT
Experience

The production will be staged in a special thrust setting with limited seating. The audience will surround the playing area on three sides, creating an intimate, engaging, and enveloping atmosphere that fosters a connection between the performer and the audience. This unique configuration enhances the personal nature of the narrative, creating a shared space where vulnerability and understanding can flourish.

The “fourth wall” is a theatrical term for the invisible boundary between the action onstage and the audience. When the actors acknowledge or speak directly to the audience, the “fourth wall” is broken. In Every Brilliant Thing, the “fourth wall” isn’t just broken; it doesn’t exist, creating a unique and immersive theatre experience for everyone.

By design, this production is staged to create an intimate, safe, and engaging space where the actor and audience can interact and take a very human, heartfelt, and, at times, humorous journey together.

There are opportunities throughout the performance for audience members to be involved and become part of the story. We ask that you embrace this aspect of the production and help create one of the most brilliant theatre experiences you will ever have. Thank you!
