Nothing But Smiles At The Frozen Teddy Bear Tea 2022

A Winter Wonderland To Remember

Wide eyes, huge smiles, princess costumes and crowns, ties just like daddy wears, twirling dresses, excited giggles…………proud moms and dads, doting grandparents, happy friends………the air thick with anticipation, lighted trees decorated with shiny baubles, a collection of stuffed animals, flashing cameras, tables laid with china tea cups and saucers, a stage waiting for the magic to happen……..the Annual Christmas Tea at Swamplight Theatre enjoyed two weekends in December filled with Christmas cheer and memory making experiences.

Guests were treated to a winter wonderland as they walked through the lobby on the way to the specially laid tables for tea in the theatre itself. Entertainment was provided by students from the Kay Butler Performing Arts Project in a Christmas themed performance that included carols and appearances by characters from “Frozen” and “The Princess and the Frog”. Scones, finger sandwiches, mini quiches, cookies, and other tidbits were served during the intermissions by the student performers and adult helpers along with a choice of teas, hot chocolate, and special beverages.

The young guests were treated to a picture with characters after the performance and a special gift to take home. Additional performers roamed the lobby talking to and taking informal pictures with the children. The final day of the tea also saw a visit from Santa so children could make any last minute additions to their lists.

A chorus of “see you next year” and “we’ll be back” echoed through the lobby by children and adults alike as they departed smiling. The tired, but happy, performers and staff smiled too; Swamplight Theatre was a part of the Magic of Christmas.
